A Hogwarts Romance
Now, I know I haven't been doing a great job of keeping this community alive, but I think I just had an idea that could make things more interesting.
What if instead of all the RP's being randomly placed short little stories, we instead make them all take place in the same time frame, in relation to the same event?
Heres the idea.
Every now and then the mods (A_Newheart4xmas and myself) will write out a short story. This story will involve all the characters, and will be about an important event or occurence at Hogwarts. Then, everyone (including the mods) RP's based on the situation created in that short story.
Now, dont think that we would make you all do something stupid. Like.... "All the teachers were at a cult gathering beneath the school where they knelt beneath a stature of Poppy Pomfrey, their idol and supreme goddess. They all wished they could be Poppy, because she really was the greatest." It wouldnt be something like that. I'll give you an example of what I mean.
The story would be something like this;
It was a frigid day at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, and the biting cold only made the current situation even more dire. By some quite unfortunate turn of luck, an entire herd of Blast-Ended Screwts from Hagrids personal menagerie had escaped their cages and taken up residence on the second floor. Despite the heated efforts from the staff, the screwts had managed to evade capture and continue to multiply, taking out entire walls and rooms with their collective blasting. Luckily, Albus was able to clear all the students from that level with the help of Madame Hooch's superb broom skills, and no one was injured. However, during her heroic efforts to free her 3rd years from danger, Minerva McGonagall, headmistress of Hogwarts, was cornered by a large family of ill-tempered screwts. She holed herself up inside the girls bathroom on that floor, where she is still trapped by the roving gangs of beasts. Despite the absence of the creatures master Rebeus Hagrid (who is away on confidential business, mind you), Albus is confident that his capable staff will be able to remove the infestion without delay. In the mean time, though, The entire staff is scrambling to find ways to free the ensconced headmistress before she starves to death alone in the girls lavatories. Or worse.
So now that short little ditty has provided a stage for our sexy and daring professors to make romantic heroes out of themselves, everyone would just RP based on that story. It would be completely open, though. For example, Trelawney could start an RP like this;
Professor Trelawney couldnt help but feel slightly bad about releasing those horrid little creatures on the second floor of Hogwarts. She loved this school, and for the most part its staff, and she hadnt meant to cause so much trouble. She had only hoped to scare that wicked witch Minerva McGonagall into being a little less arrogant about her own abilities. But now everything had all gone wrong, and she feared the worst for her arch enemy. This morning she had been collecting herself with her daily meditations, and she had recieved a vision of the old had being carried off in the gleaming white teeth of the Grim. That thought alone made her shudder, a sharp pang of guilt turning her stomach over. She had to save the headmistress, even if it meant ignoring her strong feelings against the woman.
And they could take it from there, mabe ending with Minerva and Sybill getting jiggy with it in the girls bathroom while some wide-eyed screwts (they donnt really have eyes...) get a free show.
You get the idea?
And while thats going on, Hooch could do a post saying;
Xiomara Hooch stood at the bottom of the staircase leading up the second floor, her right arm bandaged. Poppy Pomfrey hovered over her manacingly, the look in her eyes just daring the flying instructor to move.
"Oh come one, Ol' Pop. Its fine. Its just a little burn. Ive had worse falling off my broom during quidditch. I gotta get back in there and kick some firey screwt ass!" She said, exagerating her words with a few thrusts of her right foot.
And so on and so forth. Everyone could just RP along those lines until we either get bored and want a new story written, or we actually come to a conclusion. And anyone could actually write a story. Once we finish with one story, anyone could write one. Just send it to one of the mods, and we could read it, approve it, and post it, and that story would be the next one we use.
So what do you all think? Is it a too restrictive on what you get to RP? Feedback appreciated. (and required, people! *shakes fist threateningly*)
